One thing is certain; France provides a multitude of diverse and varied landscapes including the mountains! The Pyrénées, located in the Southwest of France is a mountain chain accessible to all. The Alps, in the eastern part of France stretch from the French Rivera to the Swiss border and are home to many ski resorts!
The Pyrénées
The Ariege department has several ski resorts, such as Ax-3 Domaines. This ski resort consists of three ski area with a diversity of landscapes, and levels for your winter vacation.
In the Hautes- Pyrénées in France, discover the charming village of Cauterets . This is an ideal resort for families! A similar type of resort is the station Gourette, located in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques. This is also an ideal family resort.
In the Pyrénées-Orientales, Formiguères is a small ski resort 22 km from pistes, ideal for beginners or young children.
The French Alps
Located in the heart of Mount Blanc, Megève has an abundance of snow activities and an exceptional setting: beginners beware, but don’t fret! If you are new to skiing, Megève offers many snow sports along with alpine skiing which include; cross country skiing, ice-skating, snowshoeing, snow golfing, and much more.
During a spring or summer visit to the French Alps we recommend hiking and exploring the Gorges de l’Ardèche. Here you will find a river that forms a large canyon leaving behind breathtaking views.
Gastronomy
The crisp, chilled winter air makes you want to stay warm by the fireplace! You can do just that after a long day of outdoor activities and enjoy delicious plates such as raclettes (cheese made from cow’s milk) and tartifiettes (an authentic French dish)!
